Austin-based Macheen, the stealthy cloud services firm headed by Richard Schwartz, and backed by DFJ Mercury, uncloaked this week, saying that it has formally launched and will help consumer device manufacturers and retailers to ship products which are already connected to the Internet. Macheen said it has pre-connected broadband data services to devices, allowing those manufacturers to connect those devices globally without having to deal with the complexity of telecom services. The firm said its first customer is Dell, which will power a integrated mobile broadband service, starting in Germany. CEO Schwartz has previously served at such companies as Openwave, Vignette and Borland.
