Gazzang Launches Data Encryption For Amazon Cloud
Austin-based database encryption software developer Gazzang is expanding its products into the cloud computing area, saying today that it has launched a new product to provide data encryption and key management for Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR), one of the web services provided by Amazon. Gazzang said its new Gazzang CloudEncrypt software is targeted at enterprise customers looking for maximum data security for their Amazon EMR projects. The new software handles deploying its encryption software to Amazon EC2 instances, and according to the firm the "hundreds to tends-of thousands" of instances that might be spawned from Amazon EMR. Amazon EMR is being used for big data processing in the cloud. Pricing on the new product was not announced.
