GameStop Gains From Pokemon GO Stops In Stores
The huge Pokemon GO phenomenon is having a positive effect on Grapvine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop, according to CEO Paul Raines, in an interview this morning on CNBC. Raines said that 462 of its stores are PokeStops or Gyms, and as a result, it is seeing sales up 100 percent in those stores--thanks to both visitors and well timed sales at those locations. GameStop said it already is the largest distributor of Pokemon video games and collectibles in the world; it's unclear if there was a formal agreement between Nintendo and GameStop to place those PokeStops at its locations.
