FSU to Use Dell Computing Cluster for Research
Round Rock, Texas-based computer manufacturer and direct retailer Dell Inc. announced Tuesday that Florida State University has selected Dell's next-generation high-performance computing cluster to power various academic research projects. The cluster, which was unveiled Tuesday, is housed at FSU's main data center in Tallahassee, Fla. FSU researchers will use the cluster to study various topics, such as predicting the spread of forest fires or redesigning jet engine turbo fans so that they generate less noise. High performance computing clusters are used in supercomputer and other computation intensive research and applications.
