Freescale Sells Unit
Austin-based Freescale has sold its SigmaTel, multi-function printer imaging lines to semiconductor firm Conexant, Conexant announced today. According to Conexant, it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Freescale's SigmaTel multi-function printer imaging unit, which provides semiconductors used in multi-function printers and fascimile imaging applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Freescale unit was primarily based in Waltham, Mass. According to Conexant, more than 50 Freescale employees will join the firm as part of the acquisition. The deal includes both Freescale's MFP imaging lines plus its SigmaTel digital photo frame products, but not Freescale's multimedia applications processor technology.
