Freescale: Company's Austin Incubator Now Hub Of Technology
Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor hailed the impact of its Austin-based incubator, Freescale Discovery Lab today, saying that its internal technology incubator has worked on alternative materials, cutting edge packaging technology and architecting new systems and software for its next generation products. According to the company, its incubator has incubated "hundreds" of ideas at the company, with over 200 ideas submitted to the company and more than 20 employees working on projects at the location. Freescale said it currently lets any employee to submit ideas for new ideas, and if accepted, assigns those employees full time to the Austin lab to work on those ideas. The company set up the internal incubator one year ago.
