Facebook Plans Giant Data Center In Fort Worth

Social networking giant Facebook said Tuesday that it plans to build a giant, data center in Fort Worth, as part of yet another expansion of Silicon Valley's flagship companies into Texas. According to Facebook, the data center will be its fifth, and will be "cornerstone" of the company's global infrastructure. Facebook said the new data center will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy, using 200MW of new wind energy resources being provided into the Texas grid. Facebook says it has already started on construction of the new center, but did not say when it expects the data center to be operational.
