Dell to Sell, Support Solaris 10
Computer networking powerhouse Sun Microsystems Inc. reported Wednesday that computer manufacturer Dell Inc. will offer Sun's Solaris operating system and support services directly to its PowerEdge server customers. The multi-year, original-equipment-manufacturer agreement was announced live at the ongoing Oracle OpenWorld 2007 in San Francisco, where Jonathan Schwartz, Sun president and chief executive officer, and Michael Dell, Dell chairman and CEO, are keynote speakers. The financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Dell is headquartered in Round Rock, Texas. Sun Microsystems is based in Santa Clara, Calif.
