Dell To Employees: Take A Break
Dell has asked its employees to take unpaid time off, according to reports, as the firm looks to cut costs as the economy slows. According to reports, Dell has asked its employees to take up to five days of unpaid leave, will institute a hiring freeze, offer some employees voluntary severance packages, and cut travel expenses, among other efforts. The news leaked out after Dell chief Michael Dell sent an email to its employees informing them of the moves. The news is also bad for its contractors: Dell said it would eliminate some of the positions currently filled by temporary workers and contract workers at the firm.
