Dell Opens New HPC Center In the UK
Round Rock-based Dell and the University of Cambridge, in Cambridge, UK, said yesterday that the two have opened up a new high performance computing (HPC) center at the university. The firm said the new Dell | Cambridge High Performance Computing (HPC) Solution Centre will focus on both academic and commercial high performance computing, and look to provide "real life" solutions to HPC challenges. The new center will allow vendors to build and test research-specific solutions for customers. The two did not say how large of a deployment the center has of Dell equipment, or if it plans to expand the amount of equipment used in the clusters at the location. HPC computing usually uses vast deployments of network PCs for their high performance computing work and clusters.
