Dell Creates Cloud Computing Division
Dell announced Tuesday that it is taking on the cloud computing market with a new "compute cloud" offering. The new product will provide design-to-order custom hardware for IT operations that are creating energy-optimized data centers. According to Dell, its new Dell Data Center Solutions Division will offer its Dell Cloud Computing Solution for financial services organizations, national government agencies, institutional university and laboratory environments and upstream petroleum producers--all typical users of large optimized data centers and computer clusters. Dell said its services will include capacity planning, design-to-order hardware, component optimization, and custom services. Dell is headquartered in Round Rock, Texas.
