    BMC Rolls Virtualization Management Software

Houston-based BMC Software has rolled out a new, virtualization management product focused on virtualized IT systems, the firm said today. BMC said it has rolled out nine new software products focused on planning, controlling, automating, and managing virtualized systems. Virtualized systems use software to consolidate multiple PC operating system images onto a single server or pool of servers; the technique is being adopted by enterprises to reduce need for new server hardware, and to make it easier to manage server resources. According to BMC, the new suite of products include capacity management and planning tools, performance management of those applications, alarming and monitoring tools, and more. The firm is working with Microsoft's Hyper-V, Sun's xVM, and VMware's virtualization products.
