Applied Materials Cuts 300 In Austin
Santa Clara-based semiconductor firm Applied Materials announced Tuesday that the firm will cut approximately 1000 positions, or 7% of its workforce, as a cost cutting measure. The firm said it will record a charge of approximately $20M for the job cuts. According to a spokesman cited by the Austin Business Journal, 300 of the firm's 2700 workers in Austin will be affected by the move.
