Amazon To Shut Dallas Distribution Center, Says Report
Online retailer Amazon.com is reportedly shutting down its Dallas distribution center, over a dispute with the state over state sales taxes. According to the Statesman, the plans to shut the center came via a leaked email from Amazon. Texas is seeking $269M in uncollected sales taxes from Amazon.com, saying that the firm ought to be collecting taxes for sales made in the state. Texas is one of several states looking to make up declining tax revenues by targeting online retailers like Amazon.com, who have so far refused to collect taxes on sales to customers in those states.
